I'm being curious here, and for ease of calculation/visualisation, we're going to ignore the fact that the strut is at an angle so strut travel and travel at the wheel are not equal.

The following are based on measurements taken personally ...

Front strut measurements - MR319792 - open - 557mm, closed - 388mm, leaving 169mm travel.

Front strut boot/bump stop measurements - Febest MSHB-PININ - this is supposedly a direct OEM replacement part - bump stop portion is 100mm.

Front droop measurements - new OEM springs & KYB334442 struts (springs are correct for strut type) - 66mm - this is actual wheel travel.

These measurements suggest that there is only 3mm uptravel before the strut body makes contact with the rubber bump stop, which would also suggest that the bump stop is being used as an auxiliary spring.

maybe not

A few thing is bothering me here, the first is that you cannot make those measurement and mixed them up, even if it is easier, it doesn't work because your droop is on the tyre and not the strut itself....something else is bothering me but I cannot see it yet :)

I hear you Claude,

The next time I have the car on jackstands and the wheels off, I'll take some measurements, and do the math, but, I don't expect it to change what I'm finding significantly - there's not a whole lot of uptravel before the bumpstop comes into play.

yes...

Yes, there isn't...but not as bad as 3 mm. From memory the measurement on the wheel is about 25 % greater than what is on the strut but check, I could be wrong here...
