Good morning, I'm new to the forum.

I have a Mitsubishi Io 2.0 GDI 4G94 with a Superselect transmission.

The problem I have is that oil is leaking from the gearbox through the retaining ring on the rear transmission shaft output.

I took it to a workshop and they replaced an inner bearing, the retaining ring itself and the tip of the transmission shaft that meshes with the inside of the transfer case.

It's been like this for a while and they haven't given me any solution to the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem and been able to solve it?

Best regards

Hi Yah

There is normally a large seal on the transfercase output case which seals against the drive shaft when inserted....
Throw up a picture of the area and where the leak is comming from....

Snip from manual

Hola,  Gracias por

Hola,

OK so if is coming from seal

OK so if is coming from seal #31 and it has been changed numerous times then the shaft on the drive shaft that slides in against the seal might be damaged. Also you might want yo check the breather for the transfercase is not blocked. It could be not allowing it the breath when getting hot and pushing out the oil.

If the seal keeps failing,

If the seal keeps failing, the driveshaft surface might be damaged. Also, check the transfer case breather for blockages.
